On Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, the Surat Round Table-135 organized 13th Blind Chase Car Rally. The rally started off to a very impressive & pompous show. Mr. Rakesh Ashthana, Police Commissioner of Surat City Flagged-off the first Car of this mega event. The High Point of the rally was a Deep-Blue Rolce Royce Car being flagged-off at number one. This held all the onlookers and car enthusiasts enthralled. Playing of live band and bursting of crackers added the most needed zing to the Flag-off event. A total of 108 cars were Flagged-off by various who’s who of the Walled City.

With map in Braille in hands, visually challenged guided cars and drivers followed the instructions. Denizens of Surat enjoyed this inspiring spectacle as they covered total distance of 78 KMs. With the adventure, thrill, zeal and excitement, the rally passed through the beautiful route which encompassed the open and refreshing countryside on one hand and congested inner-city on the other. All thanks to Tr Hitesh & Jewel-of-Table- Vikas Khator for working day and night for carving out such a magnificent route. All the Tablers, circlers, 41ers & Twinklers enjoyed the different Marshal points set up at different distances of the route. We all were really touched by the hospitality shown by the villagers at Marshal Points. The rally came to end at around 1.30 PM with the last car reaching the destination point. All the participants were offered ice-cream at the finishing point.

The last event on the card was AWARD distribution Function, Which turned out be icing on the cake. The presence of Renowned Music Composer Ismail Darbaar, Joint Police Commissioner Mr. Sanjay Srivastav, CEO of NMART & our major sponsor, Mr. Gopal Shekhawat, & Area Chairman of RTI Tr Naitam Kapadia escalated the glamour quotient of the function. Songs by Ismail Darbaar and his better half Aisha Added the fun and frolic to the do.
Competitors finishing with minimum penalty points were declared winners. Team of Govind Jhavar and Ashok Chawla bagged first place while the team of Nevil Angadiya and Hatim Vohra was declared second and team of Hetal Desai and Snehal Gamit was declared third. A special award for all ladies team was also given away to Uresha Patolawala and Parul Desai. The whole function was beautifully compared by our very dear NHT- Anurag Mehra. All the guests relished the delicious dinner, sponsored by famous Hotel of the city, TGB.
HATS-OFF to our car rally convener Tr Denny and Chairman Tr Bhavesh for working day in day out to make this event a resounding success. Thanks to all the Tablers, circlers, 41ers & Twinklers for their keen involvement to make this show great. This Rally was an earnest ENDEAVOUR of SRT-135 TO POPULARIZE Round Table India in Surat. We got substantial publicity and fund raising through this event. The amount of fund collected through the rally is to the tune of about Eight lakhs Twenty five thousand , which shall be used for the construction of four classrooms at PATAL village. Thanks a lot to the sponsors of the event (NMART, NAVJEEVAN HYUNDAI, KING FORD, COMET MOTORS, KTL, AMUL BAKERY, DIVYA BHASKAR, 91.1 FM, PRESIDENT MOTORS MARUTI HARDWARE, SILICON NISSAN, TGB, DESTINY, CHARU JEWELLERS, & CAR CLINIZ). We would also like to express our gratitude towards all our valuable participants.
The publicity fetched by this rally is unprecedented and historic. For continuous four days, we got coverage in Local Daily DIVYA BHASKAR, Which was also our media partner to the event. Six Hoardings were put up at very strategic locations of the Surat city. Radio City 91.1 aired details of Car Rally for continuous four days and interview of Tr Denny was also aired. Tr Piyush contributed his bit in publicity by making an event page & a normal page on facebook. He also invited around 45000 people from Surat to visit the same.
The positive feedback by the participants raised the level of satisfaction of SRT-135’s Family. Last but not least, the most satisfying moment of the event was when the blind man said “mazaa aavi gayo saheb, aavta varas pachi yaad karjo”. That sparkle of happiness in their eyes will always linger on in our memories for really long.
